The Engineering (Tech) Team is responsible for all Feedzai product development. Together with Product Management and Data Science, we build the next generation of tools to catch fraud in real-time with a machine learning first approach. While building the best value for our customers, you will work with a wide range of technical challenges. Such as building distributed systems that need to operate 24/7 and ultra-low latencies, solving UI/UX problems to help fraud analysts to fight fraud more efficiently. In addition, designing extensive databases from relational, NoSQL and graphs, validate and develop new data science techniques and algorithms.

As an AI Engineer, you will be a core contributor to the design and development of GenAI-based product frameworks and services that enable natural language interaction, intelligent automation, and agent-based workflows across Feedzai’s ecosystem. You will work at the intersection of backend engineering, applied AI, and platform development, helping multiple product teams build AI-powered features in a secure, scalable, and standardized way.

You will work on foundational technology that enables multiple product teams to innovate faster and deliver intelligent, agent-driven capabilities to customers. Your work will directly influence Feedzai’s product strategy and the way users interact with our platform.

• Your Day to Day:
• Design and implement core GenAI platform components that enable intelligent agents and AI-driven user experiences across Feedzai products.
• Architect and build backend services and APIs that integrate large language models into critical product workflows in a secure and scalable way.
• Define technical standards and best practices for agent development, model access, authentication, security, and governance.
• Drive architectural decisions for GenAI workloads, balancing performance, cost, reliability, and user experience.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and senior engineers to shape AI-powered user journeys and product capabilities.
• Ensure strong observability, cost control, and operational stability of GenAI systems in production.
• Prototype new interaction paradigms using natural language, automation, and agent-based systems and mature them into long-term platform services.
• Own services throughout their lifecycle following DevOps principles (“you build it, you run it”).
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and translate them into practical, scalable engineering solutions.
• Leverage GenAI-assisted development tools to prototype, implement, and iterate on platform capabilities quickly, while maintaining strong engineering and security standards.
• You Have & You Know-how:
• 5+ years of experience building complex production software systems.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Python; Scala are a plus.
• Proven experience designing and operating backend services and APIs in cloud-native environments.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI systems (LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, prompt pipelines, or agent frameworks).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, reliability engineering, and security principles.
• Experience with continuous delivery, monitoring, and operational ownership of services.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of ambiguous, high-impact technical problems.
• Strong technical communication and collaboration skills.
• Preferred/Valued Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience building AI-powered products or platforms used by external customers.
• Familiarity with LLM gateways, orchestration frameworks, or agent-based architectures.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred).
• Understanding of cost optimization and observability for AI workloads.
• Background in fintech, fraud prevention, or other mission-critical domains.
• Contributions to open-source AI or distributed systems projects.
